how to knit a parrot

I hope you will follow my knitting instructions. Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting!

Different materials have different frictions and grip the yarn differently; slick needles such as metallic needles are useful for swift knitting, whereas rougher needles such as bamboo are less prone to dropping stitches. People who knit are skilled at juggling both these tasks and also switching yarn in order to add color to their blankets. The local yarn store will often provide assistance if you are having trouble with your pattern, regardless of whether you purchased your knitting supplies from them or a competitor.

More complicated techniques permit large fields of colour (intarsia, for example), busy small-scale patterns of color (such as Fair Isle), or both (double knitting and slip-stitch colour, for example). A beginner is naturally clumsy because they are not comfortable with using two needles. Knitting has been around for thousands of years, and probably always will be.

Thicker yarns generally require thicker knitting needles, whereas thinner yarns may be knit with thick or thin needles. Dyeing may be done industrially, by hand or even hand-painted onto the yarn.

Keep looking around this site for lots of tips, patterns, resources and ideas. Once you learn the basics of knitting, you will want to continue progressing to more advanced stitches and knitting patterns.
