Plied yarns may themselves be plied together, producing cabled yarns or multi-stranded yarns. There are so many different fibers and needles that are used to make those different varieties of cloth pieces such as table cloths, handkerchiefs and etc.
There are many knitting guilds and other knitting groups or knitting clubs. It will just some time at the beginning, but you will learn and get experience.
