Knitting consists of loops called stitches pulled through each other. I wanted to set out some basic knitting instructions as a refresher so here it is.

This is my version of instructions for the two basic knitting stitches but I have found that it is hard to use a few written instructions. Once you learn these two stitches you will find everything else is just a variation of the knit and purl stitches. While knitting patterns can offer suggestions for design and color ideas, it is ultimately up to the artist to decide what the final product what look like. Knit it like you would knit any stitch.
