how to knit hat

In this article, I will attempt to explain some of the basic knitting stitches and everything they encompass. Knitting is the oldest craft among all the crafts.

Knitting has been around for thousands of years, and probably always will be. In spinning, the fibers are twisted so that the yarn resists breaking under tension; the twisting may be done in either direction, resulting in an Z-twist or S-twist yarn. The most basic type of knitting is called the knit stitch.

This is used to great effect in lace knitting, which consists of making patterns and pictures using such holes, rather than with the stitches themselves. More resilient yarns are more forgiving of irregularities in tension; highly twisted yarns are sometimes difficult to knit, whereas untwisting yarns can lead to split stitches, in which not all of the yarn is knitted into a stitch. Stitch holders, which come in various lengths and are similar to safety pins, knitting counters are small devices that are slipped over the point of the needle and are very convenient for keeping track of rows, especially for larger items like sweaters and afghans.

Hence, thicker yarns generally require fewer stitches, and therefore less time, to knit up a given garment. Scissors obviously are necessary for cutting the yarn, large darning needle or tapestry needle which can be used for sewing seams or for finishing off ends, knitting needles because how can you possibly knit without these.

We hope you found the information here inspiring, please have a look around this site for more great info. These few basic knitting instructions are the foundation of any project you will ever knit.
