free bitty baby knit or crochet patterns

For many people one of the most enjoyable aspects of the craft is browsing through the many yarns available in a knitting shop. Knitting is the oldest craft among all the crafts.

Yarns need not be dyed; or they may be dyed one color, or a great variety of colors. The spun fibers are generally divided into animal fibers, plant and synthetic fibers. There are a few types of stitches that can be used to make dramatic patterns on blankets, but these should only be attempted by those who have learned the basics.

In some cases, a stitch may be deliberately left unsecured by a new stitch and its wale allowed to disassemble. In weft knitting, the entire fabric may be produced from a single yarn, by adding stitches to each wale in turn, moving across the fabric as in a raster scan. For comparison, woven garments stretch mainly along one direction (the bias) and not very much, unless they are woven from stretchable material such as Lycra.

These few basic knitting instructions are the foundation of any project you will ever knit. You watch it come to life as you go, and little by little, your knitting becomes reality.
